Recording of PM Erdoğan's media intervention leaked onto Internet

A voice recording of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan ordering an executive at Habertürk TV to change a late-breaking news ticker during the Gezi Park protests has leaked to the Internet.

In the leaked voice recording, Erdoğan calls Habertürk TV executive Fatih Saraç from Morocco and tells him to take action regarding a late-breaking news ticker that was running comments made by Nationalist Movement Party (MHP)leader Devlet Bahçeli. After this phone conversation, Habertürk removed the ticker, which included remarks such as “Bahçeli is calling on President Abdullah Gül to do something about the Gezi Park protests.”

In the phone conversation, Erdoğan is heard saying, “You need to remove this ticker right away.”
